Jaffer’s company pitched projects worth $850-million to Ottawa, files show
The company co-owned by former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer pitched environmental projects worth $850-million to the Harper government last year on behalf of other companies, previously unreleased documents show.

The three proposals, submitted by Green Power Generation, called on Ottawa to pay about a quarter of the cost of the projects, which dealt with biofuels and electricity generation. In all cases, the proposals presented the stakeholders in the projects as other companies, suggesting that Green Power Generation was acting as a middleman on their behalf.

The three projects were at the heart of an appearance before a parliamentary committee Wednesday afternoon by Mr. Jaffer and his partner at GPG, Patrick Glémaud, who fended off a series of allegations of unregistered lobbying.

However, The Globe and Mail has already obtained the full details on the three projects, dubbed the BioDryer, Dragon Power Station, and Solar Photovoltaic Electricity Generation.

2. I think this explains yesterday's memory lapse
When Jaffer and his partner couldn't remember the names of these companies. Had they mentioned them, it would have opened up multiple lines of questioning. It is also quite possible that this gave shredders some time to do their work.

I don't see this as being the whole kit and caboodle, just the stuff they had to admit to so far. I can't believe Jaffer/Guergis got a million dollar mortgage without him having a healthy "business income". Plus, there's the cocaine, which isn't cheap.

I wonder whether the green fund money hasn't been used and abused by a lot of politically connected people in and around the Conservative Party. After all, the Mulroney administration used Air Canada this way.

The Mulroney report is due in five weeks. That might be interesting reading, in this context (not that I am expecting much but a whitewash, but even they can be revealing when you read between the lines).

4. Yep, the way the Cons are running FROM Jaffer and Guergis....
I'd say it was just the tip of the iceberg as well.

Jaffer company pitched firm touted by Guergis

"A company co-founded by former MP Rahim Jaffer pitched three projects to the federal government — including one involving a division of a waste management firm touted by his wife, ex-cabinet minister Helena Guergis, according to newly released documents.

One of the proposals signed by Jaffer's business partner Patrick Glémaud names Green Rite Solutions Inc., the marketing arm of Wright Tech Systems Inc., as the stakeholder in a proposed $480-million "shovel-ready" electricity generation and waste-disposal infrastructure project to be considered for the federal Green Infrastructure Fund.

snip

Last September, Guergis wrote a letter to local officials in her Ontario riding encouraging them to consider a presentation about alternative waste management technology from Jim Wright, owner of Richmond Hill, Ont.-based Wright Tech.

The documents were tabled by Transport and Infrastructure Minister John Baird on Wednesday night after a parliamentary committee ordered Jaffer and Glémaud — co-founders of Green Power Generation — to reveal the names of companies listed in the proposals within 24 hours.

This tidbit stands out, imo:

"The documents were tabled by Transport and Infrastructure Minister John Baird on Wednesday night..."

They aren't just running the other way, they are providing the bullets for the 'smoking gun' against one of their own. It is getting VERY interesting!

5. I think this IS the smoking gun. Jaffer and Guergis are toast.
Jaffer >> Green Rite >> Wright Tech >> Guergis

The two slices of toast in this sandwich are pretty clear.

6. Yep, the timeline seems very clear...
Jaffer met with businessmen regarding, among other business, that of Green Rite/Wright Tech on August 25/09, Guergis wrote the letter to her cousin touting Green Rite/Wright Tech on September 9/09 and then Jaffer, on September 16/09, attended a now infamous meeting at the Toronto restaurant Harbour 60 where Green Rite/Wright Tech were again discussed. This is the meeting where, after leaving, Jaffer was pulled over by the police.
