MacKay drops his defences
OTTAWA — Peter MacKay became engaged to his longtime girlfriend, CTV producer Jana Juginovic, over the weekend in Boston, sources say.

Mr. MacKay, whose private life has occasionally led the evening news, flew down to Boston to visit Ms. Juginovic bearing a diamond ring.

Ms. Juginovic, director of news and programming for CTV Newsnet, is studying at Harvard University on a fellowship for journalists. She called home Sunday to share the happy news with friends at CTV, sources say.

1. Ugh, another reason for me to call CTV "Conservative TV."

2. So We Have Our Own Fox News
We have been out foxed.

The Countdown Starts Right Now on CTV Newsnet’s COUNTDOWN: With Mike Duffy

There are very few people covering the Hill right now that have Mike Duffy’s experience and perspective,” said Executive Producer Jana Juginovic. “His ability to connect with viewers is what sets him apart from the rest of the pack.”

CTV slapped for broadcasting Dion outtakes
OTTAWA - CTV was unfair and unethical when it broadcast outtakes of an interview with then-Liberal leader Stephane Dion, who repeatedly did not understand a question, during the election campaign last fall, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council ruled Wednesday.

The council said a "poorly framed" question Dion did not understand was confusing and that CTV was wrong to broadcast the outtakes after promising the Liberals not to do so.

Halifax CTV News anchor Steve Murphy's first question to Dion was: "If you were prime minister now, what would you have done about the economy and this crisis that Mr. Harper has not done?" The council said Murphy failed to clarify the question when he re-asked it.

Broadcast of the outtakes occurred five days before the Oct. 14 election.

3. This really makes my blood boil. And tonight the CTV News broadcast covered the debate in Parliament
The reporter, Bob Fife, framed it as the Liberals viewing the H1N1 vaccine shortage as an opportunity to go after the Harper Cons, instead of, say, the Liberals actually doing their job and asking the government for answers. I'm sure many viewers came away from the report a bit upset that the Liberals would take advantage of the public's frustration and use it for political gain. It pisses me off that the most cynical interpretation was applied to the Liberals' response to the H1N1 crisis but coming from CTV News, it was hardly a shock.

4. I agree with everything you said
Journalism in Canada is very unhealthy these days.

5. I think this poll on CTV News's website gives a good idea of who it appeals to:
Do you agree with Ignatieff's criticism of the Conservatives over the H1N1 vaccination program?

Yes- 32%
No- 68%

It's not unlike the kind of unscientific poll results you'd find on FOX News's website.

Oh, and CTV hack "reporter" Graham Richardson reported on ConTV tonight that the H1N1 shortage was Jean Chretien's fault because the Liberals signed the deal with the plant that was later taken over by GSK.

6. CTV, as part of Global, has long carried the water for the harper cabal...
remember Mike Duffy, who earned his seat on the Senate by kissing harper and his cabal's ass on CTV. Their polls, as well, have shown by the votes that it is primarily CRAP supporters who read that site and vote on their silly questions.

I stopped watching it a few years ago, only watch CBC now for Canadian news.
