2. Yes, all those pesky travelers bringing bugs with them
and exposing everybody on the plane.

Let's hope the alarm is all over nothing, that it's no worse than the usual flu and that the Mexican authorities are only counting the severest cases.

3. Here, in English.
Settings in quarantine, strict control of the imports of pig, placement in observation of feverish passengers: medical measures of precaution were taken Sunday on a worldwide scale to try to prevent the propagation of the porcine influenza suspected of having caused 103 deaths and of having contaminated 1614 people in Mexico.

In addition to Mexico and the United States, first countries touched by the new stock of virus A/H1N1, the suspect cases were announced in New Zealand, in France, in Spain, in Israel and one in Brazil. Four another cases were confirmed in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.

The New Zealand authorities announced that ten high-school pupils of return of Mexico suffered from the influenza and that it was “possible” that it is about the new virus. Three new probable cases were then identified in another returning group of pupils of Mexico.

In parallel, a man sunken recently of Mexico was hospitalized in Israel, without it being still known if it had developed the disease. In France, four “suspect cases” - three in North and one in Paris area were listed Sunday, whereas suspicion weighing on two other cases was raised.

Even vigilance in Spain, where the health authorities gave a report on the returning placement in observation of three people of Mexico in hospitals in the Basque Country, Albacete and Valence.

In the United States, 20 cases of porcine influenza were listed in five States, according to the last calculation of the Control centers and of prevention of diseases (CDC). The last case was recorded in Ohio.

The mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg stated Sunday that the CDC had confirmed the contamination of eight New Yorkean high-school pupils by the porcine influenza. Complementary analyses were carried out to determine with precision the sub-type of the virus.

Yes, it really is world-wide but the numbers (so far) are fairly low. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Merci et bienvenue, Sandrine.
