Karlheinz Schreiber can remain in Canada until a public inquiry into his past dealings with former prime minister Brian Mulroney is completed, CBC News has learned.
Under the terms of an agreement reached with federal Justice Minister Rob Nicholson, Schreiber can stay in Canada no matter what the Supreme Court rules Thursday.
The top court is set to rule on the German-Canadian businessman's last-ditch effort to avoid extradition to Germany to face fraud and other charges.
The agreement was confirmed in a March 3 letter to Schreiber's lawyer Eddie Greenspan.

So, if an inquiry is "indefinitely delayed", Schreiber is happy, Mulroney is happy, and Harper is happy.
