Stronach not running; Fry probably is
Surprised to see she has more sense than ambition. Two failed leadership bids in a row, for two different parties, would have sunk her to irrevocable joke status.

Belinda won't run for leadership: report

Published: Thursday, April 06, 2006

OTTAWA - Belinda Stronach will not run for the federal Liberal leadership.

Sources say Stronach will tell a news conference today that she's unhappy with the way the leadership selection process is structured.

But another source close to Stronach says her inability to speak French was just too big a hurdle to overcome in the party that brought in official bilingualism.

Hedy Fry considers run at federal Liberal leadership

OTTAWA -- Former cabinet minister Hedy Fry says she's considering a run at the federal Liberal leadership.

Fry says women need a stronger voice in government and so, she says, does Western Canada.

Fry, who is from British Columbia, says Stephen Harper is the first prime minister from the West in two decades, yet there was not a single word about western Canada in Tuesday's speech from the throne.

Fry, who says there's about an 85 per cent chance she'll run, was secretary of state for multiculturalism in Jean Chretien's government before she was shuffled out of cabinet.

Glad to say she's my FORMER Parliamentary representative.

(Although she was very skillful at appearing at every Pride Parade.)

2. Hedy Fry...
I swear to God, when I first heard this, I thought the person saying it was 'joking' because he is a NDPer.

I didn't know it was a 'serious' rumour...LOL.
The liberals are in deep trouble if she is running...they got bupkiss.

I guess the 'big players' predict a Tory win next time around...McKenna is definitely NOT running (for sure) coz he just got tapped for the TD board.

Probably spend his time lobbying for bank merger legislation...TD/CIBC and BMO/Royal has been the wet dream of the elites since 2002.

3. Hedy Fry
I expect if Hedy Fry will run, she'll be an also-ran. I doubt she'll receive any more than 3% at the Liberal convention, and that's being generous.

7. Great to be here!
Thanks for the warm greetings, Spazito! I love it here in Canada.

I think Fry as head of the party will be like the PC's under Campbell.

Probably the best potential Liberal leader would be Gerard Kennedy at this point. I don't like Ignatieff though.

Bob Rae would be a disaster. He destroyed the provential NDP as Ontario Premier during his 1991-1995 tenure. Besides, the Liberals need new life, not an old, worn out rethread.

8. I don't care for Ignatieff either, I do, however, have a soft spot for
Ken Dryden. His involvement with education and students is admirable. I agree that Bob Rae would be a disaster and I don't see him getting the leadership, way too much baggage there.
