It's hard to do "fascist crap" when you're in a minority situation.
I suspect it would come down to what they *didn't* do. Which would pretty much be: govern. I can't see it working. The opposition put up with Clark precisely as long as he didn't try to govern; until he decided to pretend he had a majority and disregard the real majority in the House, and then he was out. And he was pinkish tory.
But nobody would want to be seen as responsible for bringing another one down. Lordy. So, then, what? Just nothing? A budget would have to come along sooner or later ... and a budget nay vote is non-confidence, whether anybody likes it or not.
(Would the NDP's "party self-interest" stretch to the point of voting for a Stephen Harper budget to avoid getting punished for yet another election that nobody wanted?)
How 'bout the old solution? Bring 'em down, send Paul to see Michaëlle hat in hand, and have the Liberals take another shot at it without having to dissolve Parliament?
I considered the possibility last time around, had the Conservatives got a plurality. Just don't hand over the keys, and continue to govern with Bloc/NDP ad hoc support. Variation: give 'em the keys, let 'em take a shot at it, bring 'em down, take the keys back. I'm not averse to it, but I don't see it being particularly popular with the talk radio audience.
