19. Depends on where you go
There are some very red counties, a couple of very blue counties (Teton and Albany) the rest are varying shades of purple. That said, our Republicans are still more like Eisenhower and Ford than say, the crazy assholes in Florida.

20. Democrats in WY
We are few and far between, like everything else here. I've never been in a place where people so consistently vote against their own best interests. They praise the scenery and wide-open-spaces, clean air and water, wildlife and public lands, then deride environmentalists and praise the energy companies and vote Republican. It's an interesting dichotomy. Most Wyomingites are good hearted people, kind and courteous, but politically confusing.

21. A couple of many reasons
the energy companies are the big employers in most areas, so it is a bread and butter thing. Another is the precieved cultural imperialism of those who are environmentalists as urban/suburban regional bigots who want to end hunting, ban guns etc. Some of them happen to be hobby ranchers from Hollywood.
All of the hobby ranchers I met were telecommuting 1 percent Republicans who bitch about tractors on the road, gun shots etc. But years of disinformation. The post 1977 NRA makes things worse when the tradionalist/environmentalists (JFK's NRA) was deposed by the crazy assholes and culure warriors.
rich and city=liberal elitest (like Rush and Rudy)
environmentalist=cultural imperialist who want to close public land, ban hunting etc.
I grew up in Rock Springs. My oldest brother was a cop in Riverton in the 1970s. I like Riverton more.

Yeah, well maybe winning is a little too much to ask, but what kind of infrastructure do we as a party have there? In Cheyene (sorry bout the spelling)

6. Hi Undeterred:
I was surprised to see you here. I visit occasionally as I come to Wyoming every year for a little backpacking, volunteer trail work or something. I may vistit Rock Springs later this year to see where Dick Cheney was locked up. In the future I hope to visit whereever he will be locked up as well.

15. On Cheney

Cheney's 60's-era DUIs

Another document file contained Vice President Cheney's 1969 government job application in which he acknowledged being charged twice with driving under the influence while a college student in Wyoming.

Cheney was cited for driving under the influence in Cheyenne, Wyo., in November 1962 and in Rock Springs, Wyo., in July 1963.

He forfeited a $150 bond and had his driver's license suspended for 30 days for the first offense and was fined $100 for the second.
