TV reporter in Madison who flipped out
I hadn't heard of this, I guess for a Madison TV reporter to flip out like this, he must be a conservative. :D

Former TV Reporter Found Not Guilty By Reason Of Mental Disease

MADISON, Wis. -- A former Madison TV reporter was found not guilty by reason of mental disease Wednesday and committed to the care of family services for ten months.

Joe Ulrey, whose on-air name was Joe Mason while he worked at WKOW-TV, Channel 27 News, entered a Beloit radio station in February while armed with a semi automatic handgun.

2. Holy shit!
I was just up there a few weeks ago. Still have tons of distant family around Beloit.

3. I never heard about this story.
Happened in February? Why was it kept so quiet?

4. Maybe...
Because the "People's Republic of Madison" didn't want bad news getting out, the way the USSR used to? :D

5. Hardly. This town has more leaks than a collander
I didn't hear about it either, but he was apparently the Rock County reporter for WKOW, not one of the regular anchors. I watch WISC, but usually only catch their headlines before I switch to Democracy Now on public access.

I found some discussion of it on thedailypage forums, and apparently WKOW did run a small article about it the day it happened. Otherwise, I'd imagine that since hardly anyone watches WKOW news, nobody really cared. :D

6. Really?
About 10 years ago (or more?), I thought Channel 27 was the best station in Madison. Of course, they got rid of the bald anchor - which was a mistake. I thought he was really good.

Now I get Green Bay's finest. :sarcasm:

7. This was reported in the Wisconsin State Journal
when it happened. I guess the other state papers didn't pick it up off the wires...wasn't local to them.
