Cool news, and a request for assistance!
The other day, I posted an editorial from the Sussex Sun news editor, Peter Abbott, about the feral cat measure. I, in turn, wrote to Mr. Abbott and thanked him for his editorial, saying
"Your article on the Feral Cat issue was very inspirational, and I have sent it on to many other animal and cat lovers, who wholeheartedly agree with you! We can only hope that those who hold even a shred of humanity come down on the right side of this issue.

A year and a half ago, my lovely little girl, Kira, escaped from being a full housekit into the outdoors, and was never found: it puts a heavy weight over my soul to think that someone could be out there using that beautiful soul as target practice. How sad that some people don't have the ability to love and hold compassion for one of nature's greatest creations--they must have very black souls themselves not to understand the nature of the cat and its place in the world.

People should remember: superstitious fools killed all the cats in the Dark Ages, and it served as the catalyst for the Bubonic Plague. Would that the cats had been doing their job and eliminating the rats and mice who carried the fleas that spread the plague. Alas--it is too much thinking for many people to learn from the mistakes of the past, and keep those same things from happening. A civilized society finds creative, non-destructive ways to deal with problems--not shoot, and ask questions later!"

Well, yesterday, I got an email back from Mr. Abbott, and they're publishing my letter in the Sussex Sun! My question is this: is there anyone out there in DU land who gets that newspaper in Wisconsin? And if there is, would someone be so kind as to PM me, so I could perhaps purchase a copy of the newspaper when my LTTE is published, so I can get a copy? I would really appreciate it!! (I'm putting a copy of this post in the Wisconsin folder, as well as the Lounge)

Thanks in advance!

I'm glad they're publishing your letter. Wish I could get a copy, too.

2. You can usually call the paper and order a copy
I have done that before with the Huntsville Times. You just call the Subscription office and tell them what day's edition you want to order. You can pay over the phone and they will mail you the entire paper. :)

3. Sounds good, but I don't know what day it will be!
Hmmmm....perhaps our library might keep copies. I'll check into it.
