Krug's name surfaces in caucus scandal
Lobbyist's testimony says she suggested his clients fund DemocratsMadison - For the first time, the name of veteran state Rep. Shirley Krug (D-Milwaukee) has officially surfaced in the state Capitol caucus scandal - timing that could hurt her efforts to convince Milwaukee-area voters why she should represent them in Congress.
Also Tuesday, state Assembly records showed that Krug had Wisconsin taxpayers pay her 2001-'02 legal bills of $8,181 that resulted from the caucus scandal, which led to felony corruption and misconduct charges against four legislative leaders in 2002.
Krug, 46, has not been charged with any crimes and, when she announced her run for Congress, had privately assured potential supporters that the caucus scandal would not be an issue in her campaign.
