Walker's plan gives Wisconsin state workers no raises
Walker's plan gives Wis. state workers no raises
Oct 25, 2011 10:40 AM CDT

By SCOTT BAUER
Associated Press

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin state workers will not receive salary increases during the next two years under the first pay plan put forward by Gov. Scott Walker's administration under a law that no longer requires the state to negotiate wages with unions.

Terms of the agreement were outlined in a letter from the Office of State Employment Relations delivered to legislative leaders Tuesday and obtained by The Associated Press.

State workers have not had a raise since 2009. Additionally, starting this year under the same law that took away their collective bargaining rights they were required to pay more for their health insurance and pension costs.

Marty Beil, executive director of the 23,000-member Wisconsin State Employees Union, said he wasn't surprised that the plan included no raises for each of the next two years.

"We were of the mindset that it was a given they were going to come up with zero and zero," Beil said.

Beil had not seen the entire pay plan, but based on highlights included in the letter sent to legislative leaders, he expressed concern that many of the protections for workers negotiated and put into union contracts over the past 50 years were being removed.

1. Keeps getting worse
It sure looks like they are going for everything government workers have and want them to be paid poorly and not complain about it.

2. Look at the comment
section of the Milwaukee Journal S. It is vile.
Comments from the RW Walker lovers are just plain lies for the most part.

5. There are millions of other reasons we need to get rid of Walker.
Lest anyone forget during this effort to recall the governor, there are thousands of unemployed workers in Wisconsin and many laws that need overturning, like the voter id laws. Lots of people are being cut off Badger Care and thousands of people are sliding into poverty. Its not all about the state workers.

6. Political Tone-deafness...
If Walker was trying to "play nice" with the Democrats in the legislature and change the attitude of the public toward him, this certainly wasn't the way to do it.

The guy is sticking to the ALEC playbook and doesn't pay a bit of attention to the political realities of the State he is sworn to govern...

The interesting part of this is that none of the ALEC-Loving, KOCH-SUCKING governors of Wisconsin, Ohio, or New Jersy understand that in the eyes of the Koch's, they are expendable and completely interchangeable...the Koch DON'T CARE IF WALKER, KACHICH, AND THE OTHERS DON'T GET RE-ELECTED....they want the legislation passed because it will be devilishly hard to remove it once it is in place even if the Democrats take the State Houses back because there will still be enough Republicans in place to practice their well-developed OBSTRUCTIONIST TACTICS...

Walker may have just signed his own political death-warrant.
