The repigs are desperate for Wisconsin
Not a day has gone by in the past week when I haven't received at least one full-process color mailer from the RNC. Some days as many as three.

Not a day has gone by when I haven't received at least 1 phone call from the RNC, Right to Life or some other conservative fly-by-night industry. One day I got 4 calls.

They are desperate, people. You know what that means.
As you work your @ss off in GOTV projects this week, take comfort in knowing that they think Wisconsin is going for Kerry too.

1. AZ, they've been in my neighborhood twice....
One woman came to my door yesterday to give my repig hub a vote for bush reminder. I let her know that I vote for Kerry, the smart one and my hub votes for bush. She was surprised and asked how we got along. I told her that we got along fine except I'd like to see bush dead, gone and never hear his stupid mumbling again. Of course, my hub was not happy and wanted to close the door immediately. I yelled at the woman, shame on you..didn't you hear 8 soldiers were killed today, bush's fault.

My hub finally agreed that Kerry was going to win, but only the electoral votes and bush the popular vote, and with a republican House and Senate, Kerry will do nothing for the country, like Clinton. That was a political win for me and didn't go into any more arguing.

4. I don't see how he can win the popular vote.
The majority of his support comes from the fly-over states and they are not as populated as the coastal, urban states which are generally Democratic.

9. My hubby finally wised up - or it would be splitsville over this election
If * steals this election I won't ever talk to my born-again sister or my hubby's rabid republican sister.

I haven't followed Wisconsin that closely.

3. The polls say shit
No consistency at all this entire election season. One will be up five, another will be down five and both taken the same week. To be honest, I quit looking the last couple of weeks so perhaps they've straightened out. But Kerry's looking good here. Regardless of what the polls say, my bones tell me it will be Kerry by a much bigger margin than Gore had (6000).

7. Repigs
Maybe its because I live in Madison, but the only thing I've gotten from the Bush side has been some scare mail on partial birth abortion.

I canvassed in Beaver Dam - a city of 15000 about 40 miles from Madison - both yesterday and today. The first section of town I went to had a lot of factory workers- some of whom have lost jobs and are angry. There were no Kerry or Bush signs for a four block stretch, and I got the sense that this was a normally Republican area which had turned quietly for Kerry on the basis of jobs and the economy. The other area of town I went to seemed pretty evenly divided, between Democrats and Republicans by looking at signs and my list, but a lot of Dems told me they weren't able to get a sign. Its a weak Democratic organization there- anyway, I think its safe to say Kerry will do better there than Gore did.

The Republicans in this area vote for Bush on the abortion issue.

This small town lost a young soldier in Iraq and his family is against Bush.

The terrific thing is- there were more than 20 of us canvassing each day this weekend, including carloads of people from Chicago and others from out of state- even a guy from California. None of us saw any Repugs out canvassing, so maybe they don't think they need to. We've got the passionate people and the truth on our side.

16. Repubs wouldn't canvass Beaver Dam
I've gone hunting up around there and it is what people generally think of as hardcore Republican fly-over country. It is not particularly progressive, putting it mildly.

However, almost everyone there is going to be getting squeezed in the Bush economy, like those factory workers you mentioned. Bush could be in for a nasty surprise with those people.

Remember, he needs every vote he can get from places like Beaver Dam and then some because of the Milwaukee and Madison mass votes for Kerry.

11. Spend GOPpies, Spend! Bwahahahahahahahaha!
Ah, don't you love the smell of desperation in the air?

Several calls on Saturday - all RNC. Six phone calls Sunday - all RNC - from Franklin Graham, Wayne LaPierre, the local puke party, Arnold Schwarzengropper, Franklin Graham again, and Bart Starr.

If I had time, I'd have played dumb for the local puke party volunteer and kept her on the phone for a half an hour. But I had better things to do. Maybe next time. The silly thing is, my name shows up in the paper all the time in conjunction with a local Dem party. I wonder how many puke mailings I'll be getting for the next two years until someone figures it out. Idiots.

12. No Repub contact at all
I haven't had a single repub phone call or piece of literature....

Nothing.........

While I was working downstairs on Saturday, my wife answered the phone....she came down the stairs grinning like crazy and said I just got a call from Bill Clinton! We knew it was a robo-call but it was sort of fun to get it.

I think i'm on some kind of Repub do not call list!

Will be out canvassing...lit dropping this afternoon...Visibility shifts tomorrow......

Our City usually votes Repub...my guess is we will go 50-50 this time.

13. They contact us because my son is a member of a hunting org
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 09:47 AM by sybylla
that the whole family must be swingers if not pukes. The only reason he's a member is to apply for a scholarship this spring. Then he's out and my youngest goes in. We haven't been members since the middle 90's when they started giving gobs of money to pukes.

My county usually goes repub too and I'd be thrilled by a 50/50 result.

15. Aw, shucks
It still feels like I've been rolling a rock up hill all year. Tomorrow we get to see if it rolls back down again. I'm optimistic that it will lodge somewhere about half way down. I really am excited about the outcome tommorrow for Wisconsin.

17. We've received NO calls, literature, nothin here
I'm surrounded by W lovers. I'm surrounded by signs. My spouse tells me last night many of his coworkers are not voting. They say, what's the use, business as usual, etc. I'm very pissed that we could not reach them and get them to support a candidate for change. They work at the local fort, supporting the troops through equipment repair. They see and know how bad the humvees are, but still are not moved to vote. I'm hoping beyond reason that K will carry WI, but it does not look good in my area.
