Mike Tate is running for DPW chair.
At least, that's what his Facebook status says.

Those of you who worked on the Dean campaign may remember him from that.

I probably won't be at the convention to vote for him or anyone else (I've been kind of MIA from party politics since I started law school), but anyone have thoughts?

1. He's worked on some big campaigns
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 01:13 PM by undeterred
and I don't know anyone from those campaigns who actually likes him.

He would be the governor's candidate.

I can't stand him. Never have never will. Will he be better than Wineke?

terry spring??
some case for that perhaps

4. Will he?
Sounds like a done deal. I don't think he will get enough popular support to win.

Personally I would rather have someone in the DPW Chair position who is post-political career and not using the position as a stepping stone to their future political career.

5. Tate spoke Saturday
He gave his first stump speech at the Winnebago Co. Dem's Spring dinner and I was in attendance. He gave a passionate speech about working on campaigns his whole life (cute story on organizing in the 4th grade Presidential straw poll). He got my attention by saying he wants to "de-centralize" the party, making tools available to local members year round, not just during campaigns. (Paraphrasing) "If you could go on the Obama website and download a walk-list, there's no reason why you couldn't do it as a local party." Sounds good to me and having someone who has worked as a campaign field organizer versus the recent fund-raising chairs we've had is good. Kind of addresses why people supported Rammelt 4 years ago.

9. addition
Jef Hall is Chair in Winnebago Co. and stated publicly that he is running for 2nd vice chair (current position) and is solidly behind Tate. If there is interest I could probably dig through my car and find the Tate flyer (quarter sheet) that had his political bio on one side and his platform points on the other.

10. Platform
I did some googling and found his platform, or what he calls his "Vision," here: http://www.tateforchair.com/mikes-vision/

Pretty good in my eyes...

8. I like the idea that he worked on Dean's Campaign.
That is a plus in my book.
