McCarthy, Thompson (especially him), and Murphy. Fuck 'em.

2. does it make you a fair weather fan if you really do not care anymore?
on packer game days my life used to revolve around the game.
now not so much if really at all.
The packers are now like other wisconsin sports teams.
If i am watching tv and they are on, i might watch them.
or i might not.
I no longer were my packer shirts, i no longer
chronically read any and everything written on the net or
in print about the pack.
I like the new freedom
maybe i should thank the 3 stooges for giving me my life back.

3. It's so much less demanding to be a fan this year,
Unless you count having to learn all those new players' names, from the Jets.

All those games lost in the last quarter, by just a few points. After a while you've just got to roll with it, and smile. It's not their year, this year. Go Figure. Last year's terrific season must have burned up most of the 4th quarter luck, for this whole year, apparently.

If they can manage to lose to the Lions, too, next weekend, we're going to have great position for the college draft.

4. wouldn't it be funny if they lost to the lions??
not even sure who to cheer for if i listen to the game.

should cheer for the pack but in all honesty, it would be
much better theater if the lions smoked them.

should be able to listen to the entire game on the radio.

my kid has a morning hockey game in appleton and an afternoon game in
Milwaukee.

5. You Can Be A Packer Fan And Still Want The 3 Stooges Gone
And just for the record, I wore my Nitschke jersey to school this week, and gave treats to any students in my k-12 school if they wore Packer gear, or clothing that had green and gold/yellow on it. On game day, I hung out my flag, set my Packer figurines in their places (for "luck"), and all my other game-day rituals. Yeah, I want Thompson, McCarthy, and Murphy gone, yesterday. Fuck 'em.

6. Rituals
You know, this might just be the one game (from one totally Lost Season) when you might want to consider second-guessing the efficacy/purpose of some of those rituals.

I have to admit that I'm sort of hoping for yet another repeat of Last Minute Disaster, like the Bears game last Monday. Because it would actually benefit the team to lose, to get better draft position.

Let them roll all over the Lions -- the same way that they racked up way more yards and first downs and everything against the Bears, and other teams -- but lose on a fluke, a blocked kick or turnover or someother b*llsh*t. All true Packers fans will know we've still got the best team in the division (considering all the guys on injured reserve), but this just turned out to be that odd, strange year when Fate decided to award the Packers a High Draft Pick.

I don't blame the 3 guys at the top for any of the last minute losses. It's just football, and I don't know anyone I'd rather see in their places. Thompson was "Executive of the Year" last year, McCarthy's done a mostly decent job -- exceeding expectations, anyway -- and Murphy's only been around less than a year.

Anyway, it's just a sport, a distraction.

I'll probably be rooting more for the Jets to win this weekend than the Packers. It would be great if they went all the way in the play-offs, to the Super Bowl -- so the Pack would get a number one draft pick, from them, too, for the Saint Favre trade.
