http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/article/20081014/WDH06/810140686/1638LETTER: Republicans are out to rob us all again
Once again the Republicans are trying to steal from us, this time it's just money. Last time it was money and our constitutional rights when they created a panic and rushed through the Patriot Act.
It's getting closer to the election and it looks more and more like the Republicans will lose their power to rip off the American people but they have time whip up the panic for one last stunt.
In an article on Forbes.com even the $700 billion number is not based on facts. According to a spokeswoman from the Treasury, "It's not based on any particular data point. We just wanted to choose a really large number." McCain, just like the rest of the Republicans, attempted to use this situation to his advantage. He lied to David Letterman about urgently needing to return to Washington to save the country with no intention of leaving New York until the next day. He didn't bother to even read the three-page report about the "crisis."
The choice has never been clearer as to who the next president should be. Sen. Barack Obama offers this country a clear path to getting this country back on track and Sen. McCain offers more of the same.

With the economy in the tank, the final straw being the banking crisis, it's time to discuss the Keating Five.

The Keating Five scandal erupted in 1989 and was named for a savings and loan owner named Charles Keating.
Keating made illegal loans to himself and friends, and speculated on risky real estate deals, also illegal. The loans were made from his customers' money and didn't need to be repaid. He also befriended five elected officials. He donated large amounts to their campaigns and gave them lavish gifts.
The Keating Five ran interference for Keating with the federal regulators but eventually the federal government caught up with Keating. The total loss for the S&L meltdown was $126 billion and Keating's portion was $3.4 billion. The American taxpayer paid back the bank customers.
The Senate Ethics Committee took up the case and four senators left office shortly after the scandal broke. One had been a congressman when he accepted the gifts and the Senate committee didn't feel they had jurisdiction, so they only rebuked the senator for his poor judgment for meddling in the investigation of Keating by the federal regulators.
The one congressman involved was none other than John McCain.
McCain has a proven track record of selling out to the highest bidder in the financial business; he is not the man we need as president with our economy already in tatters. We don't need a president that shows such a lack of judgment.

The Lies of Sara Palin:
Palin lies when she claims she’s against pork barrel spending and as mayor she gained valuable experience. As mayor she hired a city manager to do her mayoral job as well as a lobbyist. The lobbyist managed to bring back $27 million in pork for the city of under 7000. Palin also managed to leave that same city a debt of nearly $20 million. While she was mayor she also increased the sales tax.
Palin lies when she says she’s against earmarks. Palin requested $198 million, about $295 per Alaska resident. This year Obama hasn’t asked for any earmarks but last year he asked for earmarks totaling about $25 per Illinois resident.
Palin flip-flopped on her stand about the bridge to nowhere project. Palin was for the bridge until she made the political motivated move to be against the bridge. The $223 Million was approved so it was given to Alaska and while Palin cut the project she kept the money.
McCain likes to help Palin in her lies. Palin using carefully chosen words talked about putting the state jet on e-bay. She did but it didn’t sell, she did finally sell it for a loss through an agent. McCain now proudly boasts that the jet was not only sold on e-bay but for a profit as well.
Palin is just another poor choice by McCain, and neither has earned the privilege to be our president or vice president.
