Scott J. Johnson, 38
NIAGARA, Wis. -- A 38-year-old Michigan man has been arrested for shooting and killing three young people along the Michigan-Wisconsin state border Thursday.
Marinette County sheriff's officials say they don't know why 38-year-old Scott J. Johnson, dressed in camouflage, opened fire on four Michigan people, killing three of them.
17-year-old Tiffany Pohlson, 18-year-old Anthony Spigarelli and 19-year-old Bryan Mort were killed, and 20-year-old Daniel Louis Gordon was wounded.
The group was among several other young people who went to the Menominee River to go swimming Thursday night. Survivors and witnesses tell police the camouflaged gunman just came out of the woods and started shooting.
Friday morning, Scott J. Johnson complied with authorities' orders to throw down his assault rifle as they arrested him in the wooded town of Niagara, Wis.
A team of more than 100 law enforcement officers from various agencies spent the night searching for the suspect.
Johnson, who was also carrying a knife, has yet to be charged in the case.
