Alexander leads hotly contested Supreme Court race over Groen
State Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerry Alexander appeared to be fending off a fierce challenge from John Groen, a conservative property-rights attorney, in what was the most expensive and divisive court race in state history.

Early returns from Tuesday's primary election showed Alexander leading Groen, but tens of thousands of ballots from across the state had yet to be counted.

Alexander faced a barrage of attack ads funded largely by the building industry, but his campaign was bolstered by a counterattack against Groen led by labor unions, trial lawyers and other liberal groups.

Meanwhile, incumbent Justice Tom Chambers was building a comfortable lead over conservative Jeanette Burrage, a former King County Superior Court judge, in early returns.

2. The Post-Intelligencer was living up to its name...

With 54% of the vote counted, Alexander has a 55%-45% lead. Not exactly landslide territory, but closing in on it. There would have to be a pretty drastic shift in the remaining 46% of the votes to turn these results around.

5. Yeah, I was kind of wondering about that too
I kept checking the results last night and thought... maybe they have some other secret result that I can't find somewhere. ;)

13. Do not forget the juxtaposition: Repub. SoS & Diebold voting machines
Not to mention mail-in ballots, which have no guarantee of being delivered, much less accurately counted.

4. Republican strong arm adds
The smear add about Alexander represents the insidiousness of the republican party national,s methods of deception.

Magic Mike MaGavic,s majestically invented appeal to the public for automatic forgiveness and unconditional except Ax-acceptance of his ways-fallowed by a republican smear add against Alexander explains the beast within the republican party.

They want you to believe and disreguard their lies.

Rather a bushwacker way about it.

! is that what you might call name calling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

7. Those BIAA ads were repulsive
against Alexander.

My state Rep(Hans)is running against a right winger funded by these BIAA jerks. And his door knockers are little o'reilly wannabes...pathetic.

Thanks for the update, hopefully believe Alexander has it, we mailed our ballots in last Thursday.

8. They were repulsive because the BIAA is repulsive.
Occasionally, I have to deal with them because of the work I do, and they always show themselves to be first class jerks.

9. Ugh, I would not want to deal with these people any more
you have my heartfelt sympathies SeattleGirl. I used to work in real estate back in the 80's and nineties. Always felt like I needed an acetone bath after dealing with some of those 'folks' even back then...had to get out of all that.

Here's hoping they lose all the positions they are trying to buy.

10. I work with people injured on the job (voc counselor)
and they are part of a Retro Group (they get refunds on part of their worker's comp payments if their worker's comp claims get resolved in a certain amount of time). I have a client that they are involved in the claim with, and this man is eligible for retraining. Just before he was to start school, I got a call from them, and they wanted me to just throw him into a shoddy on-the-job training they had, instead of going to school, which under the law, he has a perfect right to do. Fortunately, I was able to keep that from happening, and he is now happily ensconsed in school. But they pull this crap ALL THE TIME, and it really pisses me off.

11. Thank you for what you do for all of us
through vocational counseling SeattleGirl.

The throw them to the pit mentality of the BIAA concerning what they consider to be expendable workers must be exposed.

Rights..the 'right' has no clue about rights.

12. You are quite welcome.
While I am technically not supposed to advocate for my clients, there IS a way I can do that when I think something is wrong -- the laws I must abide by.

And yes, the right has absolutely NO clue about rights. Their only thing is taking away as many of them as they can.
