Is Periodic Cicada Dino Lossi's political lifespan up now?
I would love to get through an election cycle without seeing his ugly lying face.

1. Not likely...
The fact is, even as a three-time loser, he probably has a better chance at being elected to statewide office than virtually any Republican out there. (The only exception being Rob McKenna, and he's got his eye on the governor's race in '12.)

Look at it this way: even after having lost two straight elections with him, the Republican leadership basically came to Rossi and begged him to run against Murray this time around, because he was the only one they had who could keep it close. I'm sure he'll be back for another run (and another defeat) -- probably against Cantwell in two years.

2. Rossi has less of a chance against Cantwell than he did with Murray.
Maria Cantwell is more centrist and more business-friendly than Patty Murray. People might feel that if they get the same thing with Cantwell as with Rossi (except without the stench of three-time repuke loser) than they're better off with our Number 2 lady Senator.

Rossi might be able to challenge Christine Gregoire for the governorship. I know even some liberals who are upset with her (mainly due to the perception that she let the Sonics slip away to Oklahomastan.) Not me; I think she's doing a terrific job.

3. Rossi has tried and failed to beat Gregoire, twice
If he thinks third time is the charm ...

5. Rossi's becoming almost as annoying as Tim Eyman
Both are such attention whores they'll never go away.

7. In the case of Eyman yes
Dipshit had a bad couple of years with his Initiative Machine, but this year, ugh. 1053, 1098, 1107.
