JUDGES? I never know who is progressive
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 04:52 AM by upi402
First, it would be nice to have a progressive running against the Republican Prosecuting Attorney Satterburg.

But I need info on:

State Supreme Court Justice - Positions 1, 5, and 6

Court of Appeals div.1, dist.1 -Positions 1,2

District Court too. Never hear anything about these vital positions!

1. I've found the voter pamphlet to be invaluable.
I look specifically for dog whistle terms in the descriptions of the candidates. Eg, in position 1 Johnson says "uphold the law and constitution as written and never legislate from the bench" Good enough for me. I'll go with the other guy, Rumbaugh. BTW, he says he served on the board of Planned Parenthood.

Position 5 looks to be Madsen unopposed and her resume looks pretty good to me, special defender for family violence.

In position 6 Chuscoff says he made payroll as one of his major accomplishments as an attorney. Sanders is the incumbent and he looks pretty good. Wiggins has some strong points but I'm a little leery of his constitution statement, interpret and apply. I think I'd like a little more recognition that the constitution was written long ago and needs a little tweaking once in a while.

I must say that I like this system much better than where I lived before.

3. Sanders is strictly anti-choice, which for me outweighs his solid libertarian stands on some issues
I don't think of myself as expendable.
