I just realized: Jim McDermott has served WA's 7th district for 20 years now
According to his Wikipedia article, Jim McDermott was first elected to the 7th Congressional District in 1988. His swearing in this week was his tenth such ceremony.

1. He's been pushing for single payer health care all that time too
Let's try to put him over the top here.

2. i hate to be in the minority about Jim
but we could have a much more politically powerful, effective congressman representing the 7th. it's almost like he's embarassed to bring home pork.

3. You know why it is called "pork," right?
Because it is all about keeping your snout in the trough and swallowing as much as you can without bothering to chew.

I would rather have a representative that represents than a pig at supper.

what congressional committees does jim head? what influence does he bring to bear on the nation's politics while representing a wealthy, educated, overwhelmingly liberal urban district for 20 unopposed years?

• U.S. House of Representatives, representing Washington's 7th Congressional District, 1988-
• Senior Member, Committee on Ways and Means: Democrats - Republicans
- Chairman, Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support
- Member, Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures
• Congressional Task Force on International HIV/AIDS, Co-Chair
• Congressional Kidney Caucus, Co-Chair
• Congressional India and Indian-Americans Caucus, Founder, Co-Chair
• Japan-United States Friendship Commission

if kucinich is the example of how loud mcdermott could be, he's falling short. he's 71-72 years old, time to step aside.
