I know I am. I really think Jim Webb is going do it on Tuesday. I'm resigned to the fact that Cantor will win, but I really don't care if Jim Webb does, which I feel supremely confident about.

How about you guys? Are you feeling the love?

1. Cautiously optimistic here -
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 06:49 PM by vademocrat
In '04, I let myself get overconfident and excited and the aftermath was painful. But I'm encouraged by the fact that there aren't nearly as many allen yard signs in my rethug neighborhood as I expected and there actually are Webb yard signs.

Plus, today I talked with a coworker about the election - I'd really thought I would need to try and talk her out of voting for allen but she was already mostly there. I also let her know that she should read the ENTIRE "gay marriage" amendment before voting for it because it actually legislates against ANY unmarried couple (she's very seriously involved with someone with no plans for marriage) and was really happy that I pointed this out to her.

I'm resigned to Cantor winning also but will take a "moral victory" if we can get his numbers below 60%. Maybe with Dr. Dean's 50-state strategy we can get a real candidate for '08!

:dem: I'm visualizing a "perfect storm" on tuesday!

edited for missing words....

4. We're Very Gerrymandered
Is there such a word? And the Dems in the 7th District are terrible. Quite frankly, I don't know why there is even a Dem organization there.

10. I'm surprised that he wasn't tagged as vulnerable b/c of Delay
He's up to his ass with Delay and Abamhoff, a Delay protegee.

OTOH, this is about as republican district as could be drawn legally. Kool Aid on every corner.

3. I think he can win, but it will be close.
I've never been a big fan of Webb, but Allen is making Kilgore look competent. I know I'm going to be up late election night. With how close the race is and the continued use of the Sequoia machines in my Precinct. I have a bad felling that stuff isn't going to go smoothly, but Web will still win in the end. For my house seat Davis is my district. I haven't seen a reliable poll on the race. I would love to see Hurst upset Davis.

7. I feel good about Webb and Kellam (the fighting 2nd!).....
The feeling in this district is that Allen and Drake are such Bush rubberstampers, that it's going to come down to you either approve of Bush or you don't ! And Virginia Beach went with Kaine last year!

22. Drake the Snake tried to smear Kellam with her faults!
It was so childish. "I'm rubber and your glue".

Drake stood idly by while King George sharpened the axe to fell Social Security and Drake said/did nothing. Social Security Inactivity should be the downfall of all repugs.

But her ad was can you trust Kellam on Social Security?

21. In SOVA it shows Webb up by 8%.
It will be interesting to see if the former secretary of the Navy and former reaganite can take Hampton Roads and its naval tradition. He should be able to do that.

14. I had 3 calls last night of friends asking what time the polls opened...
I was at the polls early this morning helping to set up the Dem literature table. I voted at 6:10 and I was number 12. By the time I left at 6:30 there were probably 60 people.

I'm feeling good...

the Marriage Amendment.

I think that poor guy's ears are still ringing. I not only said no, I yelled, FUCK NO, a few choice additional words and slammed the phone down.

edit: no coffee yet.

19. Makes more sense now.
There's a snowball's chance in hell it will be defeated, but that's no reason to give up.

My Rethuglican older brother is voting for Webb but for the amendment as well. I canceled his vote on the amendment, and I'm sure his wife will too.

17. Report, George Mason ES, Alexandria
At 8:30, the line stretched out to the parking lot. This is the longest I've ever had to wait to vote. Something like 92% (eleven out of every twelve) of the dozens waiting in line were beyond 35 years old. That could change hourly.

I was attempting to size up how people were voting. Eavesdropping on the forty-fiftyish guy two places ahead of me, I caught the words, "gaybasher ... Colorado ... hypocrite ... Mark Foley). Right then, I felt much better.

23. High turnout in Danville and Pittsylvania County
Both registrars are quoted in today's paper saying that absentee ballots far outstrip those of the 2002 midterm, and therefore overall turnout should be high.

Very hopeful here about Webb, but resigned to Goode.

24. Getting ready to go vote now
Took the night off of work so I wouldn't have to feel rushed before voting. Yesterday at work I talked to a few people that aren't usually all that political and they were all excited to vote against Allen. Quote from one guy, "I can't wait to vote tomorrow."

25. In No. VA I'm very optimistic
Webb really caught on here, even with Independents and Republicans. I've been phone canvassing and doing some door-to-door since July. In the 11th District (Northern VA Fairfax and Prince William Counties) he's a done deal. I don't have so much hopes for my Congressional candidate, Andrew Hurst, but we gave it the good fight. He will score close, I think. They never even polled this election between Davis and Hurst. They might get a surprise, I sure hope so.
