to immediately fight back - and hard - when the repuke slander machine goes into high gear - as it inevitably will. Allen has so many skeletons rattling around in his closet, it would be a shame if Webb doesn't drag them out and make Allen own them. Allen grew up in an environment where winning was the most important thing. He'll do whatever it takes.
When The New Republic published a lengthy two-part expose on Allen, exposing his racist attitudes going back decades, Webb thought it hit "below the belt." I'm sure he'd like to run a high-minded, issues-oriented campaign, but he's facing a Bush apologist with a crappy record who will find a way to make Webb the issue and isn't above sligning considerable mud. I know the creep can be defeated, but Webb will have to pull out all the stops in order to be so far ahead on election day that it can't be stolen.
Just two cents from one of George Allen's many high school classmates who are ashamed and embarrassed that he made it this far.
