VCU poll: Governor Kaine at 56% (Va.)
I guess all the "wants to raise taxes" and "he promised he promised" whining and rumbling hasn't had any effect. Eat this Va.Republicans.

BTW- Kaine got 53% of the vote last November

There is some classic Richmond Times-Dispatch writing (home of the infamous "from wire reports" byline) in here too.

The first nonpartisan report card on Gov. Timothy M. Kaine shows a majority of Virginians surveyed have a favorable view of the freshman Democrat.

Fifty-six percent rate Kaine's performance excellent or good, according to Virginia Commonwealth University's Commonwealth Poll. Forty-four percent say he is doing a fair or poor job.

Kaine spokesman Kevin Hall declined to comment on the poll.

Shawn M. Smith, executive director of the state Republican party, said, "This is an early indication of a continuing backlash against Tim Kaine for flagrantly and arrogantly turning his back on his promises."

Conducted against the backdrop of the budget impasse, the new VCU poll also shows that 62 percent believe Virginia's financial management is excellent, very good or good. Thirty-eight percent said fair or poor.

1. He missed an opportunity, however
with Senate Bill 262 (Wagner's omnibus energy bill) in that it was "emasculated" on so many levels from was originally proposed. Energy is, and will continue to be one of the hottest topics (not just pump prices). I think he could have made a bold statement by actually putting some $$ behind the programs in the final bill instead of words on paper with no funds to implement them. My 2 cents...

Other than this issue near and dear to my heart - I join you and others in thumbing my nose at the repubs.
