Frank Wolf info ?
Anyone know what Frank Wolf is up to? I heard he is running for the umpteenth time and I was wondering if anyone knew who was going to run against him? He's been my congressman for most of my life but I don't know much about him. Is he hardcore conservative or is he moderate? If anyone knows anything about him I'd appreciate the info.

PS don't send me a link to his website I've already been the and it sucks!

1. I live in the district beside Wolf's

I know a lot of moderate democrats that like him. Wolf doesn't make waves and avoids the freeper stuff, BUT he votes with the Repubs the majority of the time. So in effect he's voting against the type of things liberals and progressives would like. His main purpose seems to be transportation issues and keeping the District (DC) from creating a commuter tax.

I'd like to see someone good run against him.

BTW: Welcome to DU.

2. A cut & paste from an e-mail I received from a local progressive group--
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 08:38 PM by captain disgruntled
(dated 6 Feb.)
..."First of all, he (Wolf) is holding 6 meetings over the next 2 weeks, and I am trying to ensure as many people as possible attend each of them, The two that are nearest us are both this Saturday, at 9:30 in Chantilly, and at 12:00 in Ashburn. (Chantilly: Franklin Middle School, 3300 Lees Corner Road; Ashburn: Loudoun County School Board Administration Building, 21000 Education Court) The most important thing is to have as many people inside as possible, in order to ask as many pointed questions as possible. Well-crafted questions should be able to really throw him off his stride, forcing him into really obvious evasions, non-answers, or answers that back him further into a corner. Such responses will then be very important for us to use against him as the campaign progresses.

I am also in the process of drafting a couple of flyers to be handed out (by people who are prepared not to be called on), one of which will go after him on his support for the Iraq War, the other on his voting record on key bills (Medicare, CAFTA, Energy Bill, Budget cuts for the poor, tax cuts for the rich, etc.). This will give the whole audience information we want to get out. ..

And, really important, WE HAVE A CANDIDATE to run against Wolf who is as strong as we could ask for, Judy Feder... From my preliminary look at Wolf and his record, I believe that with a campaigner like Judy, from what I know of her so far, Wolf could actually be vulnerable. SO DOING MAXIMUM DAMAGE TO HIS AURA OF INVINCIBILITY and putting him on the spot this weekend could be VERY HELPFUL to Judy's campaign."

So. Ya got a campaign being mounted against him, and ya got a candidate: http://www.judyfeder.org/

3. So those meetings are Sat., Feb. 11?
I want to ask him about why Congress raised the H-1b quota when so many computer professionals in his district can't find jobs in their field.

5. Sounds like a good reason to pin him down on it.
How does he stand on it? What exactly is his voting record on H-1b visas? Does he know that it puts skilled American workers out in the cold.

How does he feel about these visa holders filling contract jobs with the federal government, even in the Department of Homeland Security?

If I don't get there to ask it, I sure hope someone else will.

7. Met Judy Feder this weekend
This woman is dyn-o-mite! She spoke to the Central Committee members on Saturday in Richmond, and was head and shoulders above the other candidates, plus the only woman. She came back afterwards to address the Women's Caucus group and was peppered with questions. I'm unfamiliar with Frank Wolf(e) and the district, but you guys have quite a Democrat running in Judy Feder. Please support her--mentally, financially, on the ground, and any way you can.:woohoo:
