Jerry Kilgore will get some big name support on Monday. President Bush is expected to be in town campaigning for Kilgore in their first public campaign appearance together in Richmond. The White House confirms Bush will appear briefly with Kilgore at Richmond International Airport Monday evening.
Kilgore told The Associated Press in Charlottesville Friday that the president made the offer to come to Virginia. Kilgore added he thinks “Virginia has benefited from his presidency.”
With Election Day on Tuesday, the two leading candidates for governor are criss-crossing the state as a new poll out Friday shows Republican Jerry Kilgore and Democrat Tim Kaine in a virtual dead heat.
The Mason-Dixon poll puts Kaine at 45 percent and Kilgore at 44 percent in a survey of 625 registered voters conducted this week. Thos results are within the poll’s margin of error plus-or-minus four-percentage-points. Independent Russ Potts was at four percent, while seven percent of those responding were uncommitted.

Maybe Bush showing up on Monday, with all of his problems, will actually backfire on Kilgore. Let us hope so!
