Kaine endorsed by the following papers today:
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 08:50 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB
Virginian Pilot
Roanoke Times
Suffolk News Herald
Bristol Herald Courier
Bluefield Daily Telegraph

More endorsements from past days' here:

<snip> from Suffolk News Herald's endorsement:

Kaine, on the other hand, has waged a positive campaign that is focusing on issues that will actually impact Virginians - education, transportation and more importantly, continuing the policies of Gov. Mark Warner that have once again placed Virginia among the best managed states in the nation. That's a legacy to be proud of, and with the uncertain economic outlook facing the nation, we need a governor who we can depend on to manage the finances and try to move the state forward. Since Warner is term-limited, Tim Kaine is that candidate.

Kilgore is young enough to be a major player in Virginia politics for years to come and has a good chance of one day winning the governor's mansion. We hope as time passes, he will rethink mindless no-tax pledges and campaign tactics that try to play on people's fears while avoiding discussion of real issues. A vote for Kaine will send a message that we want candidates who will talk about their vision for Virginia and that the politics of personal attack is unappealing to 21st century Virginians.

There is, of course, a third candidate in the race that we have not mentioned, Independent Russell Potts. While he, too, would make a good executive, he does not appear to have a realistic chance of winning. If you support Potts and want your vote to count, you should cast it for Kaine, whose philosophy and espoused policies most closely reflect those of Potts.

1. If Kilgore loses, I don't think he has much of a future.
He really looks like a wack job with these advertisements. The one I'm worried about is the Republican AG candidate. He's truly pathological and obsesed. If he win's, we're in for a rock ride.

2. Richmond Times-Dispatch is at a Kilgore table for two with the
Washington Times. I wonder if there was even any discussion.

3. "Because Kilgore's views are in the mainstream of Virginia's voters"
Is the quote in the Richmond Times Dispatch explaining their endorsement for Kilgore. I think this statement is asinine as I don't think his views are mainstream to Northern Va or Hampton Roads. Even so, I am not surprised that they would endorse Kilgore disregarding the fact that Kaine was a great mayor to Richmond. Perhaps that paper is more popular in the suburbs where I think the majority of citizens tend to vote Republican.

5. Welcome to DU, Richmond27.
RTD is notoriously Republican; for them to endorse Kaine would be a shocker.

6. Welcome Richmond27 from another Richmonder!
The RTD would endorse a banana peel as long as it had a republican label on it.

7. Welcome to DU
:hi:

Former Richmonder here.....recently moved to Henrico County.

The Times-Dispatch is such a joke that I don't think anyone takes it seriously. Even Fox News can't stomach quoting it (even the T-D's "from wire reports" articles) and Fox News will quote ANYTHING as a reputable source.
