Excellent Editorial on Kilgore & the Death Penalty
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/19/AR2005101902013.html

For those who haven't been following VA's Kaine vs Kilgore race, Republican Knucklehead Jerry Kilgore criticized Kaine opposition to the death penalty with a serious of misleading and emotion ads. (Kaine was the court appointed lawyer in several death penalty cases.) The editorial addresses Kilgore rush to execute even the innocent.

"Mr. Washington came within nine days of execution in the electric chair. He eventually was exonerated by DNA evidence, but Mr. Tinsley's role as Mrs. Williams's killer wasn't confirmed until Mr. Washington's lawyers, over the strenuous objections of then-Attorney General Jerry Kilgore, conducted their own tests of crime scene evidence. Mr. Tinsley's DNA was found in the victim's body.

Attorneys who volunteer to represent death row inmates play an essential role. Mr. Williams has thanked Mr. Washington's lawyers for identifying his wife's killer when the state had failed to, and for preventing the execution of an innocent man in her name."

1. I Wish that letter would be sent to the Richmond paper
The Richmond paper is so anti-Kaine. I may need to get in touch with that man and have him send the letter to my paper. It is amazing how we don't get to hear all sides. I wonder if Mr. Kaine knows that.

2. Bluelady you'll never see an editorial like that in the T-D.
That paper is so right-wing they're off the scale. They've been sucking up to the republicans ever since Tricky Dick Nixon - defended him with their last drop of ink and still refuse to acknowledge he did anything wrong, he was just victimized by Sam Ervin and all those no-account democrats.

4. My mistake.
It was referred to as an "editorial" in the original thread and I hadn't checked it out to see it was LTTE.

6. Don't Worry About It
LTTE's are better than editorials. They come from people like us!
:-)
