1. skipos
good question. Potts is an old-school, moderate republican. He was instrumental in getting across-the-aisle support for Warners tax increase to remedy the financial shitstorm Glimore left over the state. He is a neighbor of mine in Winchester and a generally good guy from what Ive heard...Ive never actually had a conversation with him myself. My parents (long-time democrats) would vote for him if the race wasn't razor close.

Kilgore, on the other hand, is a no-talent assclown who cant do anything except what he's told. He is modern "God and Guns" republican who toes the party line on every issue and cannot make a decision himself should his life depend on it. He is cut from the same cloth as Bush and Reagan...an empty suit, a perfect fit for the GOoPers. He runs negative ads and is the very picture of a flip-flopper. I pray to God he goes down in flames this Nov.

What part of VA are you from?

-Alec

2. I ask because
I hope that die hard Republicans will vote for him instead of Kilgore. You know, the whole split-the-vote thing.

I am actually from MI, but I am bummed there hasn't been more talk on DU about this race and the one in New Jersey. I started the thread below but it sank like a stone.

4. By all means, try GD-P next time,
subjects don't tend to fall as fast there. If it remotely resembles politics, I always put my threads there :)

I just replied to your thread ! I'm wondering if the swifties are as mean in NJ as they have been in Va ?

7. I'm watching these threads like a hawk
these governors races are by far the most important thing happening next week, IMO, but I have no firsthand knowledge of them and nothing to add to the discussion - but I am paying attention.

3. Excellent Analysis
Kilgore tried to get Cinderella removed from public school libraries because it deals with themes of "Witchcraft!"

6. are you sure you're not thinking of Michael Golden?
this postfrom Daily Kos references banning Cinderella from public schools, but it's 41st District (Fairfax County) candidate Michael Golden who's referenced as having allies " want to ban books like Cinderella and the Wizard of Oz from schools."
