Elections in Virginia
Over in the Election Reform Forum, I have posted a thread with the intent of using the close examination of the voting procedure in Virginia as a practice session for Election Reform advocates. If we can point out the irregularities sure to be found during yall's governor's election, we can get a leg up on what to expect in the congressional elections 2006.

If yall have any information you'd like the Election Reform Forum to look at, come see us.

1. What's the deal with the "yall's"?
Are you being cute or condescending?

3. Yall's
Not being an English major (actually failed), and being a southerner who loves the yall term, using the yall's term in this case was suggesting the possesion of the election as being yall's.

Ya got a problem with that?

2. Virginia Information, Fairfax County Virginia - Info and Problems
Fairfax County is the largest county in VA, 1.0 million people. It's part of Northern Virginia, which has about 25-30% of the state's population and 50-60% of the wealth. There was a huge screw up in 2001 and the Republicans lost votes. They were furious.

We use

Advanced Voting Solutions, WINvote™ - Fairfax County

http://www.co.fairfax.va.us/eb/winvote_equip.htm

The Republicans wrote this amazing report on ballot integrity, etc.

"Operation Ballot Integrity" Fairfax County Republicans
http://verifiedvoting.org/downloads/FRC_ballot_integrity.pdf

-- no removal of machines from locations once election starts
-- detailed autit procedures
-- verified voter paper ballot trail and mandatory recount 0.5% for comparison of paper versus DRE totals
-- require DRE vendors make their source code available.

This is quite a stunner.

Here is the state map from VerifiedVoting.Org

http://www.verifiedvoting.org/verifier/map.php?&topic_string=5std&state=Virginia

I think that this is a good idea. I know that the campaign here is focused on election integrity. There will be a stink if something comes up.
