Frank Wolf (R-VA) came out with a major statement in support of funding basic science. He's asking the president* to triple basic research funding over the next decade. As an astronomy grad student who relies on NASA money, this sounds like a great idea. :)
But before I get too excited, tell me -- is this guy just another nutjob? Or is he one of the fairly reasonable Republicans?
but I wasn't going to vote for him this time either. I really haven't heard much about him except at election time. I think the Republicans all have the same postcards they send. They change the name of the candidate and the name of the state, but all the rest is the same. I don't even know if I could pick him out of a lineup.
