Virginia Is for (Homoracial, Heterosexual, Mentally Adequate) Lovers
I posted this in the Editorials and Other Articles Forum as well, but thought some Virginia readers might be more interested:

Old Dominion's old attitudes rise again
By my conservative estimate, the effort to circumscribe gay relationships is not the Virginia legislature's first attack on private, contractual relationships in the past century; it's the third. The first two efforts are now almost universally condemned, if not always well remembered.

We should be proud our legislators are working tirelessly to protect us from gay marriage. I would hate to see them distracted by such pointless diversions as addressing that State's budget problems or terrorism.

1. The only thing I want to ask is
why the fuck can't Northern Virginia succeed from Virginia like West Virginia did? Seriously, what are we waiting for? These fire-breathing Baptists will never allow people to live. And anti-gay, anti-black, anti-feminist, anti-Science assholes will always prevail in the South and Central parts of our state. Why are we paying all these property taxes to be imprisoned by these baboons?

Yes I live in a sea of red, but please don't condemn us all

3. I'm not a baboon
Just surrounded by them.

(And I'm being sarcastic, I'm not feigning Southerner indignation at your comment like so many other people on this board feel inclined to do). Pretty much everything but NOVA is full of neanderthals who long for the good ol' days where women and blacks "knew their place."

If NOVA secedes, get ready to add one more resident (me). :hi:

4. Embedded in Roanoke
and we're fighting our way out. Some great people helping out the campaigns already. We need to put a dent in this region if we want to grab the Governor, Lt. Governor and AG spots.

5. It would be great to secede...
...and take our tax dollars with us, and see how the 'necks fare without us. We talk about this all the time in my neighborhood.
