Hilda Barg runs for State Delegate (Prince William County, VA)
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 09:00 AM by demnan
"Prince William County Supervisor Hilda M. Barg, D-Woodbridge, will announce her candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates a week from Sunday at the Montclair Country Club.

Barg will run against incumbent Jeffrey M. Frederick, R-52nd.

Frederick upset John A. "Jack" Rollison in 2003 for the district seat for southeast Prince William County that includes parts of Woodbridge and Dumfries.

Gov. Mark R. Warner will be the guest speaker at Barg's announcement.

Barg would have faced Matthew Harrison of Dumfries in a Democratic primary, but Warner interceded and Harrison withdrew.

"I have been asked by Gov. Warner and the House Caucus to withdraw from this race in order to provide a clear path to the nomination for Hilda Barg," Harrison wrote in a press release." More Below:

I met Hilda Barg once. I was handing out campaign literature for Bill Clinton and Leslie Byrne at my local precinct in 1992. A crazed freeper came up to me and was yelling about Saddam dancing in the street in Bagdad or some such nonesense. Hilda put her short self between me and the freeper.

In short, this woman has the nads to do the job. I'm going to help her as much as I can, even though she's not running in my precinct.

1. Hilda
the only problem is she's sick all the time. she can hardly do her job as a county supervisor...a shame cuz she's one of the most "people-oriented" supervisors on the board.

i have a feeling she's been offered up as a sacrificial lamb...but then again, so was bill clinton!!! :D

2. That's a shame
do you know if she has an ongoing illness? Perhaps her health will improve? I sure hope so. Do you live in Prince William?

4. Welcome to DU!
I don't know how the race is going but I know there are a lot of Fredericks signs up. However, Hilda has always managed to pull out the vote in the past. Hope she does this time.
