Miscarriage notification bill withdrawn.
This just in from my State Delegate:

From: del_mcquigg@house.state.va.us
Subject: HB 1677 Fetal Pain--Withdrawn
Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2005 19:25:37 +0000

I thought you would want to know that Delegate Cosgrove's legislation, HB
1677 Fetal Pain, has been struck by the House Courts of Justice Committee
at his request. It will not be considered this year.

Best Wishes,
Michèle

WOOHOO!

4. See this thread
A bill was being proposed that a woman had to notify law authorities within 12 hours of a miscarriage.

5. That has to be the most insane thing I've heard!
Especially what a woman is required to report!

6. I'll be damned!
For years I have wondered what the threshold of wingnut lunacy might be in the VA House of Delegates. Thanks, Del. Cosgrove, for enlightening me! And I guarantee you that my repug State Senator (Devolites-Davis) is grateful that she doesn't have to vote on this issue.

7. Quite a few people here in DU
wrote to Cosgrove or their VA state delegates about this issue.

8. Enforcable?
What? are women supposed to report their skipped periods as well? That was an absurd bill -- It could have never been enforced.

9. McQuigg is your State Delegate?
She's ours, too. We live in Tackett's Mill.

10. Thank God
This has to be one of the stupidest wastes of taxpayer time and money this state's come up with in a long time.
