Good News From The Green Mountain State
Yesterday, Dave Zuckerman, the young Progressive House member, announced that he will not be running for Congress. Love Dave: an organic farmer, he chairs the Ag Committee, but had he run, he would have split the prog/liberal vote. He's only 34 years old, so he has plenty of time to run for statewide office in the future.

Vermont is going to see an election year like its never seen before. We've got swift boaters, a Senate candidate worth over 200 million, who's willing to pour massive bucks into his own campaign, (10 months out and he's already swamping the state with TV ads), a moderate repub woman candidate for the House who's Adjutant General of the Guard, and reportedly Rove is involved. We've never had the big money races that larger states suffer through regularly. This year will be different.

I'm grateful to Dave for his decision not to run. The path to the House just got a lot smoother for the dem candidate, Peter Welch.

Tell us more, cali. I love Vermont. Used to live there. Tis one of my favorite New England states. I'm back in Massachusetts now.

Fill us in s'more! What of Bernie? He's running for U.S. Senate, correct? Oh, I see, you think that the GOPer $200 mill will give Bernie a run? And, a female GOP moderate is running for Bernie's U.S. House seat? Where does Karl Rove come in? Other than dirty politics and smelliness, of course . . . and his infamous ability to toss an election.

Damn, I miss Vermont.

2. My wife went to UVM
and was head of the College Dems during the 92 election so I still follow the state closely. Bernie is in great shape. He'll raise a ton of money and is ahead by 50 points in the polls. The House seat is likely to be closer.
