2nd Aniversary of the War: March 19th - Let's protest in Austin Texas
As you might have heard, myself and DUer Ramsey will be in Austin Tx for the week of March 15th. Only reason I'm not flying back to DC early on Saturday morning is in hopes that the DUers in Austin TX will organize something for what will probably be a massive 120+ country protest against this illegal war.

I rarely would miss an opportunity to go to a DC protest since I'm a mere 90 minutes away in Delaware (we're the only state to not have a protest organized for that day but only because we always take the bus down to DC).

I was hoping DUers could meet somewhere downtown for breakfast and from there we could journey over to whever the protest is being held.

So who is up for a massive protest? You southerners are obligated to show this yankee gal you know how to protest just as loud as we do!

1. I think someone's planning one for Crawford, which is not too far
from Austin.

2. There will be an Austin protest as well
Right now AAW is discussing the rally location. We have a problem with our police force, LynneSin. Kind of surprising for a liberal city, maybe not. Law enforcement really doesn't understand first amendment rights. Anyway, the anti-inaugural march on the 20th resulted in the usual tactics by the Austin cops trying to herd peaceful protesters into unsafe situations. Several people were arrested. Two were tasered. So plans right now are to move the protests from the usual Congress bridge and Capitol building areas. No location has been finalized but we'll post something here when that happens.

3. Thanks for the details
I'll be staying with GOPisEvil that week (coming in for the SXSW festival). But I was promised a protest and by golly I'm getting one! Hopefully I'll get a chance to meetup with some of the great DU folks of Austin!

5. Great - let's organize something for all the DUers in the area...
...to meet like for a late breakfast and then go together to the protest. GOPisEvil knows the only reason I'm staying Saturday night for SXSW is that I need to be at a protest on Saturday afternoon (I'm a veteran of many DC/NYC protests since I'm actually from Wilmington DE).

6. I'm planning on going down
that weekend, bringing my daughter.

I marched in the march last year in Crawford on the one year anniversary. It was very peaceful. I didn't take her because I wasn't sure what it would be like.

But I have heard the Austin one is EXPECTED to be pretty peaceful, as well.

So I'll see you there. I will want to meet up with other DUers before the march, of course.

7. I'd love to join the protests
This will be my first protest or anything political, but I'd love to start! I'll be in town then, its a Saturday so I don't have any classes and I can catch the CapMetro down there. Sounds like a plan!
