Plane that crashed in Houston this morning was
on it's way to pick up George Sr. at Hobby airport for a trip to Ecuador.

And yes, the beltway is STILL closed.

2. LOL
I posted this here, then saw a huge thread on it in Late Breaking News.

I just want to know when the Beltway will be reopened. Given the shrub connection, it could be DAYS.

3. How's the weather in Houston?
I thought the Beltway was under water anyway.

4. Nope, Beltway's not under water
Not on my end of it anyway. North and West of Houston is getting slammed with the rain that stalled over Wharton and El Campo yesterday, dropping like 15 inches of rain in three hours.

Where are you?

5. Denver, missing my native Texas on Thanksgiving week.
I don't get to go home this Thanksgiving, so I'm feeling homesick for East Texas.

I've got two brothers and a sister that live in the Houston metropolis.

6. No kidding...
Where in East Texas? I was born in Nacogdoches, still have relatives up that way.

7. We were living in Nacogdoches, dad was teaching at SFA
but they drove to Lufkin to have me, much to my chagrin, as I would have rather been able to say my birthplace was Nacogdoches (sorry Lufkin).

My mom lives in Athens, near Cedar Creek Lake, SE of Dallas, and I have a house in Eustace, a tiny town just out of Athens, that I miss, but I had to follow the filthy money and move to Denver to be near my biz partners and (more importantly) our investors.

8. I've got family in Cushing....
I guess they're still there, haven't talked to them or been up there in years.

9. I love and miss the Piney Woods.
If you have to be somewhere else, however, being able to look at the Rocky Mountains every day is pretty freaking kewl.

12. Yeah, it is great up there
Sure beats Houston air. I'm allergic to pine trees, so I have to beef up on antihistimines before I go.

13. We will be in Denver for Christmas, can we get a DU get together going?
We'll be there from Christmas Eve at least till Sunday or Monday. Born in Colorado, raised on a farm/ranch, been in Texas too long. We will be staying in the Boulder/Longmont area. Traveling through NM to get there and home. Open wide to meeting up with other DU'ers on the way and back. The 23rd through the 29th or 30th.

Drinks and pizza on us, unless you have a better suggestion. No box stores or corporate type restaurants accepted as suggestions for a meet up.

10. It was really really foggy this morning.
I'm surprised they were letting planes land at all.
