Texas: Jury Rejects Assertion of Rape Against Military Contractor in Iraq

(snip)
A former employee of the military contractor KBR Inc. who said she was drugged and raped while working in Iraq lost her lawsuit against KBR on Friday after a federal jury in Houston concluded that the sex was consensual. The former employee, Jamie Leigh Jones, 26, said she was raped in 2005 while working at Camp Hope, Baghdad. She sued KBR, its former parent Halliburton Co. and a former KBR firefighter, Charles Bortz, whom she identified as one of her rapists.

I wonder how many women were on that jury?

Jurors weigh lawsuit against KBR over alleged rape

(snip)
Lawyers for Jones said in closing statements that the company gave the green light for other employees to commit similar offenses by neglecting to enforce its sexual harassment policies as far back as the late 1990s.

Attorney Ron Estefan told jurors that KBR had known it had a problem with sexual harassment since 1998 because it hired a consultant to correct it. He said the company subsequently fired that consultant when fixing the problem became too costly.

"The minute they made the decision not to enforce its rules, they cast the first die," Estefan said.

Jones, 26, says KBR and company firefighter Charles Boartz, 34, along with several other unknown employees drugged and raped her in 2005 while she was stationed at the company's Camp Hope installation in Iraq. She sued KBR and Boartz.

This is why you don't see very many women take this kind of case to court. You have to endure all the media attention, relive the nightmare and still find that juries think everything is "consensual".
