Hispanic voters lift White in survey, pollster says
The poll from Public Policy Polling showing Gov. Rick Perry and Democrat Bill White deadlocked at 43 percent continues to draw attention.

So is Public Policy’s follow-up to its survey, which notes that White’s rise comes from Hispanic voters. It says that the results might be another indicator of a possible backlash for Republican candidates in the fallout from Arizona’s new immigration law.

Among Hispanic voters, Perry has gone from leading 53-41 in February to now trailing 55-21, Public Policy says.

The Washington Independent’s Patrick Caldwell writes that PPP’s poll was conducted a week after the state GOP passed a party platform containing strong language against illegal immigration and advocating a new state law to bar unauthorized immigrants from living in Texas.

1. Excellent!
This poll shows that people are paying more attention and that the repub. party has nothing positive to offer Latinos.

Perry was afraid this might happen. He has been trying to court Latino voters recently. It doesn't look like he's doing a very good job.

2. Si se puede!
And it's about fricking time. The GOP hates you Latinos - wake up, smell the hate and vote them out!

Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters - that you do unto me.

It's a big Catholic value. We Latinos/Hispanics take it to heart. GOP, you hate my immigrant brothers and sisters - we hate you back GOP. :grr:

3. I knew that GOP convention would be good for some Latino votes!
Those GOPers sure do have trouble with math! Latinos in Texas= 31% of population in 2000 expected to be 36 or 37% in 2010. Unfortunately we are disenfranchised down to 12 or 14 percent of the total vote. That does not even start on the redistricting aspects of diluting our vote! :grr: Still, it's foolish of The GOP to dis the Latino vote at this stage of the game.
