The Texas Democratic Party has put up some resources for Precinct Convention Training here:
www.txdemocrats.org/2010-precinct-conventionsI joined in on the webinar this past week. It was pretty good. The webinar is available for download viewing too. All of the materials are available from this link. Even if you don't plan on running the precinct convention, it's good material to know, so that you'll know what to do when you get there.
For anyone interested in the 2012 presidential state convention, it's a good idea to go to this off year precinct convention if you have time. The length for each one will vary mainly due to the number of resolutions presented. Generally they run about 1-2 hours. You do not have to go to the county or state convention if you don't want to. The precinct convention is in your neighborhood the night of the general primary election, usually at the same place you vote. This year it's on March 2nd. You can attend and vote in the precinct convention as long as you voted in the Democratic primary this year, including early voting.
It's a good way to get to know your neighbors as well.
The webinar covers the procedure if you do not have a Democratic chair in your precinct too. You can take control of the precinct convention meeting if you want to.
