Perry asks EPA to retract greenhouse gas finding
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 08:15 PM by white cloud
LA PORTE, Texas — Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Wednesday asked the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to withdraw its finding that greenhouse gases threaten the public health and welfare of Americans, alleging the conclusion is based on "manipulated data."

On Monday, the EPA declared greenhouse gases a public health threat and said the pollutants - mainly carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels - should be reduced. The finding could lead to the first federal limits on climate-changing pollution from cars, power plants and factories.

In a three-page letter sent to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, Perry asked her to retract the finding until the science and data it's based on can be validated.

1. And the EPA should listen to him, why?
He's just a tea bagger party global warming denier.

Little ricky says:
Texas Tribune 12/09/09
"It is unconscionable that unelected bureaucrats at the EPA have declared carbon dioxide a public danger despite a lack of scientific evidence to support their ruling," he said in a statement. "We have already seen a sweeping expansion of federal authority, federal takeovers and federal spending under the Obama Administration. Today’s ruling continues a pattern of aggressive federal encroachment into every farm, business, church and household in America."

From the Longview Journal editorial white cloud linked above:
Texas is the nation's largest emitter of greenhouse gases. Predictably, Gov. Rick Perry lambasted the EPA decision, claiming it would unduly interfere with small businesses, farms and even churches. That is typical political hyperbole. The EPA specifically said that small businesses and farms would be exempted from any greenhouse gas emissions and didn't even mention churches (Though there is no shortage of hot air on Sunday mornings. Just kidding.) Perry and others ignore the vast consensus of scientific research that has concluded, again and again, that manmade emissions are contributing to global warming.
