That's a turnout of 18.5% of registered voters already.

1. Geek Central
Sonia - we have a database program here in Fort Bend where we can break it down into how many of those early voters voted in the Democratic primary, the Republican primary, neither primary, and those who have registered to vote after the last primary (ie., new voters). Our data is solid because it comes from the county itself.

We can even break it down into precincts, congressional districts, and commissioner precincts. This information lets us know where to target blockwalking and mailouts for the last week of GOTV. We keep these numbers closely guarded because local Republicans don't have this capacity yet and we don't want them to get our numbers.

I'm sure that Glen Maxey can do the same (because he taught us how) and if you know him, he might give you a peek of Travis County's numbers.

Like most counties, we are breaking all early voting records.

2. Yeah for Glen!
Yes Brazosboomer, Glen has those numbers in the breakout you describe, but hasn't had the time to link to them or put up an analysis on the web. You can imagine our coordinated campaign is working around the clock getting the vote out, making signs and making calls. We foot soldiers are out block-walking daily.

Hope your efforts are showing some good results out there in Fort Bend. Are you seeing those Democracy for America commercials against DeLay on TV? I just heard on Air America Radio that they are doing a fund raiser tonight in NY, to get more of these spots on the air to rid us of the bugman. Yeah

3. Yes
We're seeing the ads. Since both my husband and I maxed-out on donating to Morrison, we're giving to Democracy for America ear-marked for the anti-DeLay ads.

Also, the Democracy for America campaign training (Glen Maxey does a lot of it!) is excellent, so I've made a commitment to help them in the coming year to continue training. I'll be bugging y'all here to help with contributions, and to go to the sessions.

On a very personal note, Glen trained my son Chip in 1996 on a special program to hire local organizers for the Clinton campaign. They trained about 12 college students (who dropped out for a semester to do this) to go to certain areas of Texas to teach people how to organize a campaign. After extensive training in Austin, they were paid $1,000 a month plus mileage - which was barely enough to live on. Chip's area covered from Del Rio to the edge of Austin. It was a grand experience and most of these kids are still very active in politics.

Chip died of cancer in October of 2000. So, helping to fund this training is one of the ways we keep his memory alive.

4. I am so sorry to hear about Chip
Sounds like he was a wonderful young man. I bet he's proud of what's going on in Texas right now. He may just be helping us anyway. I have a strong belief that we somehow can impact this world from the other. You saw where Christopher Reeve is helping out too. That totally brought a smile to my face when I saw that story on Yahoo about him sending messages from beyond. Of course the ads had already been taped but you never know Chris may have known his time was coming.
