Ex-sheriff accused of sexually assaulting woman

FORT WORTH, Texas — A former North Texas sheriff has admitted forcing a woman to perform a sex act after telling her it was the only way she wouldn't go to jail for drugs found in her house, a federal prosecutor said Monday.

Bill Keating, former Montague County sheriff, is expected to plead guilty to a federal civil rights violation in federal court in Wichita Falls on Thursday, acting U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks said. Keating, 61, faces a maximum 10-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine when he is sentenced later, according to a plea agreement signed by Keating, his attorney and a federal prosecutor.

Neither Keating nor his attorney immediately returned calls from The Associated Press seeking comment Monday night.

Glad to see this scumbag is going to pay for his assault. Lets see what kind of sentence the judge actually gives him. :grr:

Oh and I know he's a repuke because the article goes on to say "He was defeated in a runoff after the March Republican primary by Paul Cunningham."

One morning in November, Keating and some deputies went to a house and arrested a man on an outstanding warrant, according to a document filed in the federal case. Authorities then found methamphetamine paraphernalia and traces of the drug, the document stated.

Keating then told deputies to leave the bedroom so the man's girlfriend could get dressed, closed the door and told her that she would have to "assist" him to avoid jail because he had found illegal drugs, the document stated.

Keating said if she agreed to his sexual demands multiple times and acted as an informant, he would help her find a job and somewhere to live and would not arrest her on drug charges — but otherwise, she would go to jail, according to the document.
Keating then told the woman to get into his car and drove her to a remote area, where he forced her to perform a sex act on him, according to the document signed by Keating, his attorney and a federal prosecutor.

What a price to pay for trace amounts of the drug.

I wonder what kind of job he was going to help her find. Maybe a job that could provide cretins like him with "assistance", since the economy is in the tank.

I hope he gets jail time as well, I bet he could get "assistance" any time he wanted while he serves out his sentence.

Rape is an act of sexual violence and dominance is part of the motivation in the crime.

I wonder if the penalty for rape would have been stronger than a violation of civil rights? That's the crime he's been charged with.
