Happy New Year to all you lovely Texans or residents thereof.
I can only hope this coming year will bring untold positive steps we haven't seen in many years. I wish the slate were clean, but am not so blind. But I remain hopeful we can still get some things accomplished. If nothing else, it will be interesting.

So merry merry to you all!

4. Happy New Year!
Just got back from First Night Austin. Damn perfect weather for a burn. This year is going to rock, since we sent off 2008 in a big blaze of fire. :bounce:

Awesome art and we're keeping Austin weird!
:fistbump:

This isn't the clock burn, but in case you missed the Clock Tower in Austin here's a taste

6. Don't get me started on the Post Office
I totally understand why people are described as "going postal". I have spent well over 2 hours over three different days in the past week trying to pick up my mail from a holiday hold request. They honestly don't think they know what they're doing half the time. Yet we have to wait in line to hear the person behind the desk tell us we're wrong. Oh sure, I routinely wait in line for no reason. At most places at least I get something satisfactory at the end of my wait. That's rarely my experience at the post office.

Finally got it cleared up with a phone call (another 30 minute wait to get through to them though). :grr:

The U.S. Post office would get my vote for the worst public service entity still in operation. What are you going to do?
