3. Fired up and ready to go Corpus
Live blogging from Caller.com
On the Trail with Obama
1:54 p.m.: About 1,300 people are in line. The sun is out and it’s getting warmer, but most of the crowd is able to stay in the shade and a cool breeze is coming off the water. People seem hyped and happy.

Rally will be streamed here

7. 6,545 in Corpus
Corpus Christi Caller-Times 2/22/08
Rock star feel to Obama's appearence

CORPUS CHRISTI — Sen. Barack Obama received a rock star’s welcome when he took the stage at the American Bank Center, but the crowd’s biggest roars came when the presidential candidate noted that President George W. Bush was not on the ballot.

(snip)

"I’m ready to take this country in a new direction," he told the crowd counted at 6,545 by the American Bank Center staff. "But understand, I can't do it by myself. You’ve got to be ready for change."

(snip)
The crowd roared when Obama said he would end the war in Iraq, which he said has not made America safer.

"I will bring this war to an end in 2009," Obama said. "I don’t want to just end the war, I want to end the mind-set that got us into war. We’ve been governed by fear, and fear is not a good adviser".
