1. Ideas for a Renaissance-themed B*sh bash
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 11:39 AM by dsewell
Okay, this part is obvious: you dress someone (preferably a good wit with some acting experience) up as a Fool, and provide him with a Bush mask. You'll need a few others to engage in colloquy with him, maybe: a Peasant (the working class), a Yeoman (the middle class), a decadent Nobleman (a Bush supporter, natch), a Knight (the military)...

The dialogues should write themselves. Peasant: "Lord Fool, I am hungry, the Duke needeth me not to till his land this season, my children run shoeless, my wife is reduced to beggary or worse..." Lord Fool: "Me understandeth well how hard it be-eth to put food on your familie! For that haveth I one sovereign remedie, to wit, I giveth this good man a greatte Cut in his Taxes!"

etc. etc. Wish I was close enough to Texas to join in! :bounce:

10. I have been wanting to go forEVER!
After we recuperate from our Halloween party, I may be able to sweet talk Al into it.

13th-14th sounds good. Not sure if we'll be able to make it or not, but I'll do my best!

The Pditties are great everyone. If you haven't met them, they are comsummate gentlefolk.

:hi: dittie!

11. Hey I see we're thinking of moving this party to Nov
Hell what a great idea. We can celebrate giving bu$h the boot at the same time. I have always wanted to go to the Texas Renaissance Festival. Damn, count us in (for 2 with my hubby) for that weekend of the 13-14th. This is going to be so great to be with friends that know how to do this thing right.

Must start planning. Costumes anyone?

14. I think November 13-14 is going to be the one, people
Now would you rather go on Saturday or Sunday?

My preference would be Saturday (in order to let the long-distance travelers get back home leisurely, and so that I can have that recuperation day before Monday).

Past experience dictates that arriving at the festival grounds early in the day -- either day -- is better than arriving mid-afternoon, because it's cooler and less crowded in the morning (this goes for the traffic jams that can occur into and out of the grounds also). We may not have to worry about 'cool', since it's mid-November, but you never know.

Take note at the website above relative to discounted lodging. The festival is just west of Conroe, about an hour's drive north from where we live in Houston. I'll see if I can convince Mrs. Dittie to entertain some houseguests in the spare bedroom/home office (we have just enough room for two on the trundle bed, I think) if some of you need reallly discounted lodging. ;-)

17. Hey sonia!
I saw a gorgeous Renaissance lady costume at Target today; kind of a burgundy velvet.

I bet you'd look FABULOUS in it! :-)
