Front-Running DeLay Replacement Spars with Local GOP
Seems as though there's more in fighting for the Repubs district 22!

Texas Republicans are scrambling to choose their party's "official" write-in candidate to oppose Democrat Nick Lampson's congressional run. Because Tom DeLay withdrew late from the race for Texas' 22nd district seat, Republicans are barred from officially nominating a candidate and placing his or her name on the ballot.

At least three GOPers have thrown their hats in the ring, and the local Republican leadership is scheduled to meet Thursday to make the call. One, perceived frontrunner David Wallace -- also mayor of DeLay's (former?) hometown of Sugar Land -- says he's running no matter what party says.

1. Why don't they just have a duel for the spot on the ballot?
Zell would be happy to preside, I'm sure.

2. My parents (who DO NOT live in District 22 and who stopped voting
Republican in 2000) have already received three phone calls from David Wallace's campaign asking them to write him in on election day.

3. Sounds like DeLay's "lost in America" robo calls
"I'm calling you from my home in Northern California, errrrrrr Virginia, aaaaaaaaaa somewhere in Texas or there abouts."

4. Actually, all three calls were a live phone bank.

5. Now that's funny!!
I hope they keep making mistakes and wasting the time of the volunteers or squandering money on a paid phone bank. I'd be willing to take 10+ calls a day, here in my CD7 home. Anyone else, not in CD22 willing to play with them? LOL

6. My Email to Ralph Blumenthal concerning his article:
I posted this in another thread as well, but thought I would cross post just in case anyone was interested....

Most of the article was about the race in district 22, but then he mentions the governors race. I felt like he needed an education about the race. Seemed just a little ill informed.

Chris Bell is the man who brought ethic charges against DeLay. He stood up to the members of both parties to help shine a light on DeLay's Culture of Corruption.

I think Chris Bell has better chances of winning than what you have suggested. I know a lot of Democrats are working very hard to make that happen.
He has an excellent platform and has been touring the state to inform the people here of a better way of life, then what we have seen since the Repubs have taken over and made a mess that only honest people will be able to change.

Here is some information to get you up to speed about the Governors race:
I inserted the data form your post to inform Blumenthal of his errors in his report

And as long as the EVM's don't switch our votes, then perhaps he WILL be our next Governor of Texas.....

Here's a link to the article, if anyone's interested!
