4. An update from David:

Rachel and I are back home in San Antonio. We made 20 courthouse stops from Tuesday morning to Friday afternoon. The last stop of the week in Menard at 4:30 Friday afternoon was courthouse stop #152 in the 254-county whistlestop tour. We reached from Burnet in the hill country outside Austin, to Wichita Falls and Vernon on the Red River and points in between. Everywhere we went, we were greeted by hospitable and receptive welcomes. Special thanks to all the steering committee members, county Democratic chairs, and county government officials who organized the welcomes all along the way. Another special thanks to the friendly reporters of the independent press who covered this week's tour.

5. And from Boerne this past week:

Van Os stood on the courthouse steps and spoke in a booming voice about his disgust with big oil companies whom he called “modern day robber barons and power grabbers.”

“There is no middle class Texan who likes being pillaged and preyed on by big oil companies,” he said.

“Yes,” said some members of the crowd as they clapped.

“In my first month in office, I am going to issue investigative subpoenas to the CEOs of the big oil companies,” he said, as the crowd cheered louder. “We are living under a reign of greed. The Attorney General is the person who is supposed to step on toes no matter how big they are. ..."
