A major televised debate among candidates for Texas governor is set for Oct. 5 in Dallas and will be available for broadcast statewide.

Democrat Chris Bell and independent candidates Kinky Friedman and Carole Keeton Strayhorn all plan to take part, their spokespeople said. However, Republican Gov. Rick Perry's spokesman said his campaign hasn't made a decision.

2. The ONLY good think Kinky brings to the race is that voters may actually

watch the debates. With nasty old Grandma, Bell, and Kinky all taking shots at Perry's fat-target of a godawful record and without Perry being there to defend himself, that would give rise to the fair conclusion that Perry is scared to defend his lame-ass record.

I hope Perry scares out and fails to show up at the debate.

4. This ought to be interesting with or without the MoFo Perry

If Perry shows it's 3 or 4 other candidates against his miserable record. I assume organizers will be inviting the libertarian candidate as well. And if Perry doesn't show up, he'll look like the chicken-shit he is. Either way Perry looks like a world class loser.
