From our friend June: Dear One and All, At a Democratic meeting in Galveston on Thursday evening, I learned that the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) on August 24, 2004 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, is sponsoring a reception for Tom DeLay to "thank him for all he has done for higher education in Texas." And I ask, what has Tom DeLay done for higher education in Texas or elsewhere? I also ask why is UHCL holding a reception for him at all. UHCL is presently in District 9 which is Congressman Nick Lampson's district. Not until the outcome of the election in November will we know that UHCL is in Tom DeLay's district. It might very well be in Mr. Richard Morrison's district (22). I think it behooves all of us to write the President of UHCL to ask him exactly what Tom DeLay has done for higher education in Texas that warrants him a reception in a district that is not his. You may email President Staples at staples@cl.uh.edu Or you may write him at 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston, TX 77058. All Good Wishes, June
p.s. MANY IN CLEAR LAKE WILL ALSO WELCOME TOM DELAY AT THE RECEPTION. EVERYONE IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR WARM RECEPTION WE HAVE PLANNED FOR HIM.
