1. Today is my future Congressman John Courage's birthday
I think that's worth celebrating!

4. Dale Henry, our candidate for Railroad Commissioner
is married to the woman whose great-great-great grandfather was wounded at San Jacinto, passed away a few weeks later from infection, and was awarded a land grant for the area which is now Wimberley.

That was her paternal g.f.; her maternal great-great-great grandfather was James George, and his brother was William Dearduff.

Who are they, you say?

Oh, they took the "Come and Take It" cannon from Gonzales to the Alamo and then stuck around to fight. To the end.

More recent history: the San Jacinto Monument is currently closed for extensive renovations, but you can still visit the battleground and see the Texian and Mexican encampments portayed in NoPasa's image above. There's a battle re-enactment tomorrow.

And the Battleship Texas is right next door.

5. Our battle cry for November
"Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! Remember the Alamo!"

They didn't quit & neither should we!

6. Or, in observance of the Texians battle tactics..
...we can always sneak up on the SOBs and attack while they are aleeping. Right?
